Esther 9 v20 to end of the book reminds us of the victory, that was achieved by Mordecai and Esther’s courage and selflessness, for the Jews over their enemies. The Jews then decided to celebrate – a festival called Purin was instituted, not just for them but for all future generations.  Despite there being no mention of God or prayer, both Mordecai and Esther demonstrate faith based on their knowledge of God’s faithfulness towards His people in the past. They believed they could make a difference to the lives of others by their actions.

Some questions you may want to consider:

How do we remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness in our lives?  Spend some time at the end of each day thanking God for evidence of Him in your life.

Do you believe God has chosen you for a purpose that no-one else can fulfil?

Can you give examples of God’s faithfulness as we witness to others?

Are you alert to God’s ‘hidden hand’ at work in our lives and in the world today?
