What is the Alpha Course?
Alpha is a series of conversations where you can explore life’s big questions in a relaxed, friendly environment. Over good food and honest discussion, we look at topics like: Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? How can I have faith? There’s no pressure, no judgment, and no question is off limits. It’s a safe space to ask, listen, and discover.
We all explore. Every day. In small ways, and in big. Millions of people across the world have explored life, faith and meaning on Alpha. Each with their own story of exploration.

Who is Alpha For?
Alpha is for anyone curious about faith. Whether you’ve never set foot in a church, used to go but drifted away, or you’re just asking questions about life and meaning. You don’t need to believe anything to come. Sceptics, seekers, and questioners are all welcome. Come as you are.

What to Expect
- Food – We start with a meal together (because everything’s better over food!)
- A Short Talk – A 20-30 minute video exploring a different question each week
- Small Group Discussion – Your chance to share your thoughts, ask questions, or just listen
The course is relaxed and informal. You can say as much or as little as you like. Courses run for 11 weeks, plus an optional day or weekend away at the end.

Week 5 – Why and how should I pray?
Week 6 – Why and how should I read the Bible?
Week 7 – Who is the Holy Spirit?

Week 9 – How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
Week 10 – How can I resist evil?
Week 11 – What about the Church?

Do I need to know anything about Christianity?
Not at all! Alpha is designed for people with little or no church background. We start from scratch and explore the basics together. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just curious, you’ll fit right in.
Will I have to speak or share my thoughts?
Only if you want to! You’re welcome to listen and take it all in without saying a word. The small group discussions are relaxed and informal. There’s no pressure to participate. Share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
Will I have to pray or read the Bible out loud?
Nope. You’re welcome to join in if you want to, but there’s absolutely no expectation. You can sit back and observe, or dive in. It’s entirely up to you. No one will put you on the spot.
How much does it cost?
Nothing! Alpha is completely free, including all the food and materials. We just ask that you let us know if you’re coming so we can make sure there’s enough dinner for everyone.
