Esther Ch 2:19 to 8

We thought about Esther being the right person, in the right place at the right time, Mordecai challenges her to say – Have you become Queen for such a time as this? As a death threat is published for the Jewish people.  She asks for an audience with the King to plead for her people , knowing this could lead to her death, she says If I perish, I perish.

Again we see Esther being the right person, in the right place at the right time, we see Esther put her life on the line and she brings about the opportunity for the King to offer her the chance to plead for the Jewish people.  Secondly we see Esther speaking truth to power, and pointing out the situation and being clear who began this which was Haman. Thirdly –we see that the timing for the King to be reminded of a key part of the story about Mordecai saving his life, leads to the chance for Mordecai and Esther to be in elevated positions to protect their people.

Questions to consider:

• The life of Esther shows she has flaws as well as strengths? Why does God use us as humans when we are so flawed?
• Why do you think fasting is mentioned but not prayer specifically?
• What does the book reveal about the providence of God, even though he is not explicitly mentioned?
• Should Esther have pleaded for mercy for Haman?
• Why do you think the King so readily agrees to Esther’s plea for help?
• What does this book teach us about the character of God and how he works in his world?
• What does life in all it’s fullness look like to you? (John 10: 10)
